Our community members support hundreds of local students every year through various scholarships facilitated by the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

Scholarship Funds

    Athena Scholarship

    Awarded annually to a woman attending or planning to attend Youngstown State University, Eastern Gateway Community College or Kent State University’s regional campuses.

    The C.M. (Jerry) Collins Memorial Scholarship

    Awarded to employees or family members of employees of Copeland Oaks or Crandall Medical Center. Established in memory of Jerry Collins.

    Gail T. Dennison Mahoning County Saddle Horse 4-H Committee Scholarship

    Awarded to high school seniors who have participated in the Mahoning County Equine 4-H program for at least one year within the last five years.

    Melinda Henning Scholarship

    Awarded to students studying Natural Resources, Interpretation, Environmental Education, Parks & Recreation and/or Environmental Studies. Established in memory of Melinda “Mindy” Henning.

    Karen and Trisha Hermiller Memorial Scholarship

    Awarded to graduating seniors from Western Reserve High School who will be furthering their education the following year at an eligible technical/trade school or college. Established in memory of both Karen and Trisha Hermiller.

    Loren S. Hunter Memorial Scholarship Fund

    Supports students in the City of Warren who demonstrate financial need.

    George L. Madigan Scholarship

    Awarded to graduating seniors attending a high school in Trumbull County, who demonstrate financial need and have a GPA between 2.5 and 3.5.

    MyPath Mahoning Valley Scholarships (formerly MVCAP)

    Awarded to students who are participants in MyPath (formerly MVCAP) programming or advising.

    Malvina Bojda Oberman Scholarship

    Awarded to women living in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana County who were born outside of the United States of America attending college.

    Purple Heart Gary Gutelius Memorial Scholarship

    Scholarships will be awarded to applicants that meet one of the following criteria:

    • Family member of a combat wounded veteran (Preference given to this category)
    • Family member of a combat veteran
    • Family member of veteran with a badge or expeditionary medal
    • Enrolled as a sophomore or higher in an ROTC program

    Jean Rider Scholarship

    Awarded to assist students who have Type I insulin-dependent diabetes.

    Dennis Spisak Attitude for Gratitude Scholarship

    Will be awarded in the future to graduating seniors from Struthers City School District who have overcome obstacles that may have prevented them from realizing their fullest potential.

    Eric H. Templeton Memorial Scholarship

    Awarded to graduating seniors of Newton Falls High School with priority given to students who are low to moderate income, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and have actively volunteered in school, church or their community.

    Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation Scholarship

    Awarded to Trumbull County residents pursuing a health or medical-related degree or certification – including, but not limited to, those in nursing, behavioral health and public health – from an accredited institution.

    Trumbull Retired Teachers Association Scholarship

    Awarded to graduating seniors of Trumbull County public high schools planning to major in education or pursue a teaching career in K-12 education and to Trumbull County public high school graduates that are in their Junior or Senior year of college and studying education or pursuing a teaching career in K-12 education.

    Warren City Schools Foundation General Scholarships

    Awarded to graduating seniors of Warren G. Harding High School.

    The Veronica Willo Scholarship

    Awarded to Mahoning County students graduating high school that have shown scholastic achievement and demonstrate financial need.

    Woman's Board of Youngstown Scholarship

    Awarded to Mahoning Valley college students pursuing nursing degrees.
