YOUNGSTOWN/WARREN, Ohio –As part of its annual Giving Tuesday And Beyond campaign, the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley is once again offering local nonprofits a share of $50,000, but with a new addition to encourage giving, no matter the size of the donation.
Starting Nov. 27 and running through the end of the year, all donations made to any of the agency funds at the Community Foundation will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $2,000 per fund. At the end of the campaign, any remaining funds in the $50,000 allotment will be divided between all nonprofits that received a donation, whether it was one donation or 100.
New to the campaign is Boost Week. During the first week of Giving Tuesday And Beyond – Nov. 27 through Dec. 3 – the Community Foundation will give each participating nonprofit an extra $100 for every unique donor who gives to their fund that week.
“The support from the community and our agency fundholders for past Giving Tuesday campaigns has been great and we’re excited to bring it back for a third year,” says CFMV President Shari Harrell. “We’re especially excited for the addition of Boost Week. Part of what makes Giving Tuesday great is that it’s driven by everyday people who just want to give back to their community. With Boost Week, we want to support Valley residents who are giving whatever they can to make our community better.”
Last year’s Giving Tuesday match campaign brought in just under $31,000 in donations and $15,061 in matching dollars to 18 agency funds. With the remaining pool of CFMV matching funds, each organization that got at least one donation received an additional $1,895.
The Giving Tuesday matching program is supported by the Arnett Family Fund, created by the estate of Diana R. Arnett to support education, the arts and underserved communities in the Mahoning Valley. The fund is now part of the pool of discretionary resources available for the Community Foundation to address community needs.
Donations can be made online at CFMV.org/agency-funds or by mailing a check to the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley at 201 E. Commerce St. Suite 150 Youngstown Ohio 44503 with the agency fund’s name in the memo line.
