CFMV, City of Warren Collaborate to Distribute ARPA Funds to Nonprofits Serving Warren Residents

WARREN, Ohio –The city of Warren has opened a fund with the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley to disburse roughly $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to organizations serving Warren residents.

Grants from the newly created Warren Community Impact Fund must address a community need or negative impact of the COVID-19 emergency in response to the disease itself or the harmful consequences of the economic and social disruption.

Through the partnership, the Community Foundation will accept applications and make funding decisions. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2024. Priority will be given to organizations based in Warren, followed by organizations based in other parts of Trumbull County and those located in the surrounding region but that still directly serve Warren residents. Program and project requests will be considered above capital requests.

“We’re excited to support the city of Warren in building up nonprofits that directly serve local residents. These ARPA funds are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build crucial community support systems,” says Casey Krell, incoming president of the Community Foundation. “We’re grateful Warren City Council has put their trust in our expertise in getting these funds out to the nonprofit community in order to create the greatest impact possible.”

Eligible nonprofit organizations – those with a 501(c)(3) certification or who have a nonprofit fiscal sponsor, religious organizations, schools and government entities – can complete their application at CFMV.org/grant-opportunities. Decisions on which projects to fund and grant amounts will be made by the Community Foundation staff. Warren government officials will not be a part of the review and decision-making process but will receive details on all grants made from the fund.
