Any time you make an unrestricted contribution to the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, we use your donation to address our most urgent initiatives. These gifts have the greatest impact because they give us flexibility to respond to critical community needs as they arise.
Our most pressing initiatives include:
Healthy Community Partnership
As our flagship collaboration, the Partnership engages partners from all sectors to improve local health outcomes. hcpmahoningvalley.com
Racial Equity
Supports targeted grant investments, staff training, community education and endowment funds specifically dedicated to fostering a community where race no longer determines one’s well-being.
Emergency Response Fund
Provides crucial support to residents most deeply affected by widespread emergencies and crises; was an integral resource during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Endowments for the Future
To further the impact on the Mahoning Valley, the Community Foundation builds endowed resources that will serve the community forever. Endowed discretionary funds allow CFMV and our community-centered board to be responsive to emerging situations and changing needs.
The Brozik Fund for the Foundation
Supports unique Foundation needs and activities, including organizational growth, community partnerships and the launch of targeted initiatives. Established in honor of Patricia Brozik, CFMV’s first president.

The Harrell Fund for the Community
Established in honor of Shari Harrell, President and CEO July 2013 to March 2024, The Harrell Fund for the Community is an unrestricted grantmaking fund that the CFMV board will guide based on the needs of the community. The fund is a permanent endowment that CFMV will work to grow so it can support the ongoing needs of the community in perpetuity.

Changing Needs Fund
Allows CFMV to adapt and respond to community needs as they change over time.

The Fund for Women and Girls
Expands women’s philanthropy by making investments in the development and leadership of local women and girls.

Delfin Gibert Fund for Children and Youth
Provides grants to programs that serve youth under age 18 such as the Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown, Beatitude House and many others.

William and Willanna DiCiero Memorial Fund
An endowment that awards grants to impactful organizations and initiatives, with priority given to efforts spearheaded by and serving people of color.
