We know philanthropy has long been guilty of perpetuating racial inequities, if not enacting them. The Community Foundation is not exempt from allowing some of these harmful practices to continue, and we are deeply sorry for decisions that have allowed inequity and racism to continue, unquestioned and uninterrupted. We can and will do better.
CFMV is committed to dedicating resources and identifying strategies leading us toward improving our policies, practices, and relationships to become more anti-racist as a philanthropic organization. Addressing systemic racism in our community and our work, and the inequalities that stem from that racism, is the only way we will move closer to the vibrant and inclusive Mahoning Valley we hope one day we become.
