Recognizing the important roles that arts and culture organizations will play as the Mahoning Valley rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Community Foundation offered a new challenge grant opportunity for limited capacity organizations this summer.
The Foundation accepted applications from smaller arts and culture organizations (those with operating budgets of $250,000 or less) and selected 13 for $2,500 challenge grants. Intended to incentivize community giving by matching donors’ gifts, the selected organizations had 30 days to raise funds, which CFMV then matched up to $2,500.
Of those selected, the 11 organizations below completed the challenge. They received a total of $27,500 from CFMV, which helped leverage an additional $53,185 through their collective fundraising campaigns.
- Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County
- The Ryan Giambattista HELMS Foundation
- Hopewell Theatre
- Lit Youngstown
- Millennial Theatre
- National Packard Museum
- Simply Slavic
- Trumbull Art Gallery
- Trumbull County Historical Society
- Warren Philharmonic Orchestra
- Youngstown Playhouse
The matching funding was provided by the Arnett Family Fund and the Kennedy Family Fund, both component funds of the Community Foundation.
